Our Services: More than just support, they’re about fulfilling our mission and creating opportunities for success

Here at DisAbility United, we like to think we offer quite a bit more than just “support,” you know? We really try to offer possibilities. It’s a subtle difference, I guess, but an important one. Every single service we provide is thoughtfully designed to help people build more independence, really explore what genuinely interests them, and honestly, just experience some joy in ways that truly matter. It’s about finding that spark, I think.

So, maybe you’re wondering, what exactly do we offer? Well, let’s take a closer look at some of the programs we have going on:

Our Day Centre Services (Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 3:30 PM)

During the weekdays, our Day Centre is usually buzzing with activity. Participants here get to enjoy all sorts of structured activities that bring life, laughter, and a fair bit of learning together. Picture this: we’re talking cooking classes (sometimes they get really creative!), karaoke sessions (you wouldn’t believe some of the voices!), bike riding around the area, educational games that are actually fun, and, of course, some good old-fashioned ball sports. It’s truly a place where new skills really start to blossom, and, perhaps even more importantly, where genuine friendships are formed. It’s pretty special to see, actually.

Our Weekend Programs

Weekends, for most of us, are all about connection, right? And our weekend activities are absolutely designed to be inclusive and, hopefully, really engaging. Whether it’s a fun excursion to the zoo (always a favourite!), a group sport with some friends, or maybe just a relaxed social gathering over a shared meal, participants really get the chance to pursue their interests. They can also try something completely new every single weekend, which is kind of exciting, don’t you think?

Community Access Support

Do you ever just need a hand running errands? Or perhaps you want to attend a local event but need some assistance getting there? Or maybe you just want to get out and about a bit more? Our team is ready to provide individual support for those everyday outings. We really want to help participants stay active, feel connected, and just be confident in their own communities. It makes a huge difference.

Assistance with Daily Life

From helping with personal care routines to learning how to cook a favourite dish (or even just something new!), our daily life assistance is really all about enabling independence. We work one-on-one, usually right in the comfort of each participant’s home, to support their goals. No goal is too big or too small, honestly. It’s about building those everyday skills.

Respite Services (Because Everyone Needs a Break)

Caring for someone you love deeply is, of course, incredibly beautiful. But let’s be honest, it can also be incredibly demanding, can’t it? Our short-term accommodation (STA) services are really there to give caregivers a much-needed break. And while caregivers are getting that refresh, participants get to enjoy a safe, supportive, and really engaging environment themselves. Whether it’s just overnight, or for a few weeks, our main focus is making sure everyone involved feels refreshed and truly supported. It’s a win-win, really.

When you decide to choose DisAbility United, I genuinely think you’re choosing services that are flexible, personal, and frankly, truly impactful. That’s what we aim for, anyway.
